Be There and Be Square
Several events are hosted in Downtown Pittsburgh, some of which we’ve mentioned (click here for our recent blog about the Picklesburgh!) and some that are upcoming, one being particularly exciting. There’s no better way to kick off the month of August than FREE dancing, right? Dancing is the perfect summer activity, and it gets you outside and moving, allowing you to enjoy the wonderful weather and relaxed atmosphere.
Right around the corner, on August 4th, is USA Dance Pittsburgh’s “Dancing in the Square,” where anyone interested can come and learn various traditional and new dances from 5-7pm in Market Square. What’s more, these classes don’t require a partner (so if you show up alone, you might make some awesome friends!) and after the class you can enjoy a delicious dinner from one of the many restaurants located in Downtown.
Did we mention this event is free? You heard it right—all that’s required is a positive attitude and a little bit of rhythm, and you’re on your way to having a great Friday night! If you can’t make it on August 4th, no worries, “Dancing in the Square” takes place EVERY FRIDAY from 5-7pm. If you’re a Park View or City View resident, this event is located right by you, so why not check it out? It’s fun, close-by, and won’t burn any holes in your pocket, so good luck finding an excuse not to go.
If you’d like more information on this event, please visit http://downtownpittsburgh.com/programs-activities/market-square-fitness-programming/#Dancing. For more information on USA Dance Pittsburgh, check out their website at http://usadancepgh.com/, where they post about upcoming events, performances, community dance opportunities, and more.
This event also ran in June, so if you have dancing pictures from then, we’d love to see them! Share them with us on Instagram @farosresidential with the hashtag #SquareDance. If you’re going to explore this fun activity for the first time next Friday, we’d also love if you shared your photos with the same hashtag on Instagram. Now get out there and get dancing!
