May is National Pet Month

Did you know May is National Pet Month? That’s right – there’s a whole month dedicated to your furry friends. Whether you have a cat or a dog, your pet is part of your family, and as an amazing perk of Park View Apartments, City View Apartments and Carson Street Commons, we are pet-friendly!

Your furry friends are welcome in all of our apartment communities because we know how important it is to have your pet by your side. Not only that, but pets can also improve your lifestyle, help prevent allergies in young children, and act as great companions with anyone who suffered from stroke, heart attack, or people living with high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Pets help out with these additional three elements:

Decreases Stress

Studies show that playing with or petting an animal can “increase levels of the stress-reducing hormone oxytocin and decrease production of the stress hormone cortisol.” These mood-altering hormonal changes can help you relax when you feel like you have a million things on your plate. Stress is bad for your overall health so if something as simple as petting your animal can help decrease stress, then it’s worth it!

Improves Mood

Pets can turn a bad day into a good one. Long day at work? When you get home to your apartment, your pet will be so excited to see you that you won’t have time to fret over your day. Pets just want love (okay, and food, water, and pet-appropriate exercise). But they don’t ask much of you and the giving nature of pets can help improve your mood.

Helps People Socialize

In need of a wingman or wingwoman to give you the confidence to make friends or find a relationship? Look no further to your pets – especially dogs. When you take your dog for a walk before or after work, your dog will most likely notice other dogs and want to make friends. Pet-people are drawn to other pet-people because their pets are a commonality. Kick up a conversation about your pets.

Park View Apartment residents are also fortunate to have a dog park where both pets and owners can socialize. As for City View Apartments and Carson Street Commons, both communities have walking trails nearby that are perfect for dog walks and runs.
