Make A Splash In Pittsburgh

rebecca - Friday, July 7, 2017

The hot summer sun is shining down on Pittsburgh, making it so tempting to stay indoors and out of the sweltering heat. However, the city has plenty of opportunities for you to cool down all while enjoying the beautiful weather. From swimming pools to water parks you are bound to find the best and of course, most convenient spot for you to enjoy the sun and stay chilled at the same time.

One of Pittsburgh’s great attractions is Sandcastle Water Park. The Park is located right in Homestead making it a quick, easy drive from anywhere in the city. You can even see some of the parks tallest water slides while crossing the Homestead Grays Bridge!  Once inside the park there are plenty of options sure to suit everyone. For the more adventurous type, head over to all of the thrilling water slides for an exciting afternoon. If you are looking for more of a relaxing day, grab an inner tube and float down the lazy river all afternoon long.  In addition there are multiple swimming pools and water fountains for you to explore. Sandcastle is open Sunday-Friday from 11am to 6pm and stays open until 7pm on Saturdays. You can purchase your tickets online or at the gate. Looking for ways to get discounted tickets? Check out WPXI’s weather forecast for the day and if there is a 50% chance of rain tickets are 50% off! It may seem like a risk, but don’t worry, if they park closes down that day because of rain you receive a pass to come another day! Visit their website for more details.

Another park not too far from the city of Pittsburgh is Idlewild’s SoakZone. Similar to Sandcastle it’s a great opportunity for a fun-filled day with family and friends!

Looking for somewhere to cool down but don’t have time to make an entire day out of it? Pittsburgh has two water features in the city to cool you off for FREE! Located in the North Shore right along the river walk are the water steps. This is the perfect area to get cooled off while having killer views of the city! The other city water feature is located at PPG Place in the middle of downtown. The fountains are open for use from 3pm to 10 pm Monday through Friday and 6am to 10pm on the weekends!

The city of Pittsburgh is filled with public pools for you to sunbathe and swim at. Check out this listing of outdoor pools to find the best fit for you!

Lucky for our residents at City View Apartments you do not have to travel at all to cool down on a hot summer day. The Olympic-sized swimming pool located right outside is open from 9am to 9pm every day through August 21st. Invite your friends over and show off this luxurious amenity!

Happy Swimming!
