Meet Our Residents: Jenn Van Dam
Our blog is dedicated to showcasing what a great city Pittsburgh is – from things to do, to recipes, events, DIY, and apartment organization tips, we like to share things with our residents!
But for this blog, we’ve asked the residents to share things with us!
Meet Jenn Van Dam, a resident at Park View Apartments – Faros Properties’ largest apartment community.
With over 800 units, Park View has assorted studios, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments, which are perfect for any stage of your life. Park View is conveniently located near local coffee and tea shops, trendy restaurants, breweries, museums, and vast public transportation, and as an added bonus, Park View Apartments offer residents stunning views of Downtown from huge rooftop sundecks along with 10,000 square footage of amenities.
Find out what’s going on in one unit at Park View Apartments in our interview with Jenn below!
Were you looking at other apartments while deciding on this one, and if so, why did you end up choosing this complex?
Yes, my partner and I were living in Oakland and wanted to move somewhere with more young professionals. We were looking at apartments in Regent Square and around the Northside. We decided on the Northside because of proximity to both of our jobs. We fell in love with Park View for a ton of reasons, the beautiful city-views, the outdoor spaces, and price was a huge factor — we couldn’t find comparable apartments for the price. Also, the rooftop! It’s awesome to have our friends over to hangout on the rooftop and grill during the warmer months.
What is your favorite part of living in Pittsburgh?
I’m from New Jersey and lived in New York for a couple of years after college and came back to Pittsburgh because of the small city feel.
Does the location of your apartment allow you to experience your favorite part of Pittsburgh with ease?
Yes, it’s great being so close to all of the major highways. I can get most places in under 20 minutes. There are some great places on the Northside like Arnold’s Tea, Monterey Pub, the Mattress Factory, that are in walking distance. It’s fun to hangout around the neighborhood on the weekends there’s so much to do right here.
Is living somewhere that is pet-friendly important to you? Is it a deciding factor when it comes to choosing an apartment?
Yes, we didn’t have a dog but when we were looking for an apartment, but we knew that we wanted one so it was important to us to find a pet-friendly place. Two weeks into living here we went to Animal Friends and found our Tulip, she’s an 8-year-old Boston Terrier. We love that other people have pets in the building too, it’s a great to share information with other pet-owners, like where to go for grooming and who the best dog-sitters are.
Do you enjoy the events that are held specifically for you and other Faros Properties residents?
I haven’t had a chance to go to any of the events held outside of the building, but love attending the ones that happen in the building lobbies. It’s great to come home after a long day of work and have the Faros staff handing out popcorn, or ice pops, or cotton candy. The Faros staff is always really awesome to work with. It definitely helps to build community and get neighbors to come down and hang out together.
Thanks for sharing Jenn!
